News Update: Target Corp. to Issue its Own Credit Cards; Dumps Visa, Inc.

Target Corp. (NYSE:TGT) announced today that it will issue new credit on its own credit cards, instead of Visa, Inc. (NYSE:V) cards, since finding that consumers tend to spend more at the retailer with a store card, versus a Visa.

This move is expected to hurt Visa since Target is its third largest card issuer.

Target is trading down 0.05% at $56.04.

Chase Bank Changes Policy on Joint Credit Cards

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- Chase Bank will no longer offer joint credit cards, saying it's trying to simplify its offerings. Instead, you'll ed to add your spouse or anyone else as an authorized user to your account. Existing joint account customers will not be affected. Chase is not the first issuer to get rid of the joint credit card option. HSBC scrapped it in 2010, and Capital One stopped offering the option about ten years ago.
